Dry Kindling Lights. Wet Kindling Doesn't.
Most kindling sold at hardware stores and gas stations is naturally air-dried at best. At worst it has been sitting in a pallet through rain and humidity for weeks. Wet kindling smokes, smolders, and stalls your fire.
BBF kindling is run through the same kiln process as our firewood: 265°F for 24 to 32 hours, down to sub-15% moisture. It catches on the first match. Every time.
Poplar is a native Wisconsin hardwood. It is lighter and thinner-splitting than oak or hickory, which makes it ideal for kindling. It lights faster than dense hardwoods without the resin and smoke of softwood kindling like pine.

Kindling's Job in the Fire
Kindling bridges the gap between your fire starter and your main firewood. Tinder catches the flame. Kindling grows it into something large enough to ignite a split log.
Stack
Stack a handful of 8-inch poplar splits over your fire starter in a loose teepee or log cabin structure.
Light
Light the starter. The dry poplar catches quickly and grows the flame on its own.
Add a Log
Once the kindling is burning strong, add your first log. The whole process takes under two minutes with dry wood.
